Titan players become Lords of Poker

Titan Poker recently staged a special online poker free roll ‘Lords of Poker’ satellite tournament in which qualifiers had the opportunity to take part in the Dutch Lords of Poker qualifying Tournament. Online Poker players who qualify in this tournament will eventually play in the final Lords of Poker Tournament which is open to only the great and good in the Dutch poker world. Three unknown Titan poker players managed to play online poker exceptionally well during the satellite which then enabled them to reach the qualifier. The three Titan Poker players Rik Broekhuize, Elly Steijn and Paul Wijnveld then took part in the final qualifier at the Beurs Van Berlage Hall in Amsterdam on the 6th February. This event had 600 players taking part and the three Titan online poker players managed to play well, so much so that they have now been declared Lords of Poker.

WSOP poker player arrested on suspicion of murder

Shocking news from over the pond has been received by Poker Hideout that a professional tournament poker player has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Ernest Scherer III has been arrested in connection of the murder of his parents who were killed on March 14th last year in Pleasanton, and is being held without bail in Las Vegas.

The 30 year old World Series of Poker player from Southern California has amassed $339,780 in his tournament Poker career, and is the main suspect in the murder of 60 year old Ernie Scherer Jr. and his wife 57 year old Charlene Abendroth. The couple were found dead at their Castlewood Country Club home after lying undiscovered for almost a week in what appeared to be a savage beating with a sharp instrument. The police believe the motive for the murder was money though they have not disclosed any further information regarding this theory. A car very similar to that owned by Ernest Scherer III was captured on video very close to the scene of the crime at around the time that the incident is believed to have occurred.

Bad beat poker payout proves Friday the 13th lucky for some

Carbon Poker have just paid out the biggest Bad Beat jackpot in the world proving that Friday 13th is lucky for some. Carbon poker player RUGGIO scooped the massive $417,396 payout playing the online poker room with the lowest stakes possible, blinds being between $0.50 to $1. RUGGIO holding a straight flush (7 to JH) was eventually ‘beaten’ by AELANI who held a higher straight flush. AELANI didn’t walk away too disappointed as he won a very significant sum of $208,698 and all the other online poker room players at the same table went away with very sizeable sums just for being there, each of the five taking away a very healthy $41,739 each.

Popular Gala Casinos British Poker Tour bites the dust

Poker Hideout is sad to report that the very popular Gala Casinos British Poker Tour has finished after two successful seasons and will not be returning. Whilst this may not be the best news for UK poker, Gala Casinos have decided to invest in more online poker tournaments which is a bigger market and probably more cost effective for the company. It is only to be expected that with the current economic crisis there will be some casualties, although it has to be said that UK poker appears to be as popular as ever and so this may be a knee jerk reaction by the company in anticipation of a downturn in revenues.

We at Poker Hideout take the problem of gambling addiction very seriously and its true we do love the odd flutter ourselves and our regular online poker games are a must, but we are always very conscious of those that can allow their gambling to get out of control. Please always remember online poker games and gambling are meant to be fun and exciting but they should never be the only thing in your life.
