Carbon Poker have just paid out the biggest Bad Beat jackpot in the world proving that Friday 13th is lucky for some. Carbon poker player RUGGIO scooped the massive $417,396 payout playing the online poker room with the lowest stakes possible, blinds being between $0.50 to $1. RUGGIO holding a straight flush (7 to JH) was eventually ‘beaten’ by AELANI who held a higher straight flush. AELANI didn’t walk away too disappointed as he won a very significant sum of $208,698 and all the other online poker room players at the same table went away with very sizeable sums just for being there, each of the five taking away a very healthy $41,739 each.

Carbon Poker introduced the Bad Beat jackpot during the summer of 2008 and the prize fund had grown to a truly impressive $1.2m, with no winners. Now that this Bad Beat jackpot has been won the promotion starts over again and currently the Bad Beat jackpot stands at a very acceptable $240,000.

RUGGIO was at first disappointed to have lost the game to AELANI, and then the initial disappointment was replaced very quickly with elation as he realised that he had in fact scooped the massive Carbon poker Bad Beat jackpot prize, an excited RUGGIO said of his unexpected windfall "My first reaction when I saw that I hit a piece of the jackpot was 'oh my God', I am paying for college completely on my own through student loans so first and foremost I thought about how I would be able to pay off all my student loans and start my life in the real world debt-free". Carbon Poker spokesperson Jay Manning, said of the win "We are thrilled that the Bad Beat has gone off and we have set a new bar for the industry. We never envisaged the Bad Beat would take so long to hit, after all we have the lowest qualifying hand anywhere online".
