Poker Stars saw 2008 out with a bang by gaining an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest online Poker Tournament ever held with a staggering 35,000 players on 876 tables. Joining in the PokerStars action on Sunday 28th December was relatively easy, with the buy-in’s priced to attract at $11 and offering a guaranteed prize fund of $500,000 this online Poker Tournament was a guaranteed crowd pleaser and almost a ‘sure thing’ to draw the amount of players needed to break the previous record. The sell out world breaking online poker tournament saw almost 9,000 players hitting the PokerStars money in under three hours, with the fur continually flying until the multitude was finally whittled down to the last 10. Taking seat no.6 at the final online Poker Tournament table was meiky777 the chip leader with 20,884,333, no.10 was occupied by ONE_TIMEE with 14,754,152, seat 2 was home for the short term to gustave44 with 11,654.326 chips and alongside was stan34powa seated at no.3 with 11,516,965 chips, at seat 1 Goldman007 had 9,863,968 chips in front of him, at seat 5 with 9,373,479 was alepolice, seat 4 had Nekochan48 with a respectable 8,822,692 in chips, n0ideahh was at seat 8 with 7,239,435 worth of chips, seat 7 was held by FuFish with 6,384,140 chips and the final seat in this online Poker Tournament no.9 was the resting place of rumred14 with 4,506,500 in chips. The chip lead could have helped meiky777 reach the final 3 at the online Poker Tournament table, however an overall win was to slip out of reach with meiky777 achieving only a second place position but still with a very healthy $20,000 prize. After a period of almost 10 hours of PokerStars poker play it was stan34powa who finally scooped $30,000 as the overall PokerStars winner of the largest online Poker Tournament ever held. Stan34powa is now assured a place in the history books as the winner of this gigantic world record breaking PokerStars online tournament.
