![]() This year sees the start of a new era for the Poker Hall of Fame, the general poker playing public are actually getting their chance to have a say in who is finally inducted into this prestigious poker club with the other poker elite. It won’t be a cut and dried process of those with the most nominations being automatically entered, the top ten poker players nominated by the public will then be sent to the existing sixteen living members of the Poker Hall of Fame to have the final vote. The Poker Hall of Fame was established in 1979 and was seen as a way of showing respect to those that have made an impact on the poker game itself, famous members include Amarillo Slim, Benny Binion and Doyle Brunson. There have been 37 poker players to date who have been considered so significant in poker history, to gain a place in the Poker Hall of Fame. Party Poker are themselves campaigning for Mike Sexton to receive this highest of Poker accolades. A Party Poker spokesperson has called on all players to acknowledge Mike Sexton’s right to gain entry for his achievements in his prestigious poker playing career which includes a WSOP Bracelet and $3,754,503 in total prize money. Criteria to remember before voting for a poker player is that the they must be a well established player who has played against major competitors, they must have played in high stakes poker games, be well respected and played at a consistently high level throughout their poker career. Should you wish to vote for a non-poker player then the nominated person must have made a significant contribution to the game of poker which has helped with the growth or success of the game.
