The fourth Annual World Poker Congress takes place from Wednesday 24th June to Thursday 25th June at the Sheraton Porto Hotel and Spa in Porto, Portugal. The World Poker Congress is a ground breaking conference because it embraces both brick and mortar poker and online poker sites, which allows for a unique building of relationships across the industry and from around the world. This important global poker event has all the big names in the industry which will allow for important networking opportunities, in addition there will exhibitions, a full two day conference programme (with many big name guest speakers already confirmed), welcome dinner, cocktail reception as well as that all important closing party when every one can let their hair down. The confirmed guest speakers include David Carrion who will give a talk on Wednesday 24th June on the Latin American poker market, also on Thursday 24th Dawn Kirkwood of Clarion Gaming in the U.S will be welcoming the conference members. There will be a discussion in respect of the Asian poker industry where guest speakers will be looking at this emerging market in more depth, as well as a look at live poker tournaments and rules in the afternoon, and a talk on cheating scandals, and gaining player trust and maintaining that relationship. The conference programme on the Thursday 25th June starts with a look at live poker and casinos, online poker sites and how to make the most use of assets with an in-depth look at increasing liquidity, the poker game itself will be will be analysed and if poker can be considered a skill game or a game of chance. The Social Aspect of the poker room will be the topic of conversation by guest speaker Bram Cops of Split Aces, Belgium after lunch. Paul Davis of Chexx will be discussing the implications of paying winners, he will be looking at regulations and problems that may arise when dealing with international players. There will be a panel debate on the Rakeback with one currently confirmed guest speaker Markus Lind of Swedish poker company Ongame Network. The final speakers of the day will be two of the most eminent poker names; Steven Lipscomb of WPT Enterprises and Jim Ryan Chief Executive Officer of PartyGaming.
