Sit and Go Poker Tournaments

Sit and Go Poker (also called SnG or sit n go) are extremely popular online poker tournaments, which are usually single table although there are some poker sites that provide multi-table sit and go poker, usually sit and go poker is cheap to play yet still provides maximum poker enjoyment.

Depending on the buy in that is required, chips with a notional value are allocated to each player at the beginning of the sit n go poker game. Sit and go’s are excellent practice grounds for those looking to improve their poker game whilst still keeping the risk to their pocket small. Often sit and go’s may be satellite tournaments which leads on to a further game with a bigger buy in and bigger prize fund available to win. Sometimes a sit and go poker tournament will be structured, so that at various stages players are eliminated and winners move on to the next round until such time that all the needed players have moved on to the final table. Sit and go poker games move rapidly, this is mainly due to blinds being regularly raised, the object of the game clearly is to stay in the game for as long as possible and retain your chip stack. Due to the chips having no real money value even if a poker player loses, he has only lost the original buy in amount, leaving the option open to enter another sit and go poker game immediately on elimination.

These tournaments do not usually have a set start time with poker games commencing as soon as enough players have joined. Sit and go poker tables usually accommodate 10 players at a time as opposed to the more common 9, and the buy in provides the prize fund for the winners, it is usual practice for a poker site to offer the winner 50% of the prize money available with 30% for the second and 20% for the third place positions. More recently a new form of sit n go poker tournament has appeared, in this ‘shorthanded’ version between 5 and 6 players make up the table and the prize fund is split between the first and second place finishers, this game as you would expect is a much quicker game.
